Child Safety
At SwShutters,
We fully support and adhere to BBSA's Make It Safe Programme.
The standard affecting internal window blinds was significantly revised in 2014 in relation to child safety requirements.
We will ALWAYS fit as standard a safety mechanism at no additional cost to you the customer. This is called a Safety Cleat, also available in many designs, this allows the cord to be clamped to the wall or window frame thus reducing the risk of injury to young children or a vulnerable person becoming entangled in the cord or chain and complies with the child safety requirements of BS EN 13120:2009+A1:2014
All blinds supplied by us will be tested to ensure correct working of its safety features where applicable, such as metal chain and Venetian cord break-aways.
Each blind will be supplied with a warning and product instructions on the packaging.
These standards are applicable to all homes, all public buildings and any other premises where babies and young children aged 0 - 42 months are likely to have access or be present.
